Italian officials have criticized Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' Scientology wedding insisting that it neither legal nor recognized under Italian law.
Bracciano mayor Patrizia Riccioni said: "The wedding is not recognized by Italian law. For that to happen, I would have had to have been there".
This is because Scientology ceremonies aren't accepted as legal and Tom has also been married twice before.
Tom's spokesman insisted that they were doing everything to make sure that the marriage would be seen as legal.
The couple were also derided by local priest Nicola Fiorentini, who said: 'It wasn't a wedding at all. It was just for publicity. I can't believe such an event was allowed to take place at all.'
